KNOWLEDGE AND POLITICS ON LIVING EVERYDAY OFF NOTHING
Chief Executive Officer
Growing up on East side of Detroit, Napoleon became a self taught artist at the age of 5.
He was introduced to Hip Hop at 13, when he herd the Album "2pacalsype Now" by Tupac Shakur. Napoleon later wanted to become a lyricist after hearing the historic Battle between Hip Hop legends LL Cool J and Canibus. He began to teach his self how write rhymes through studying classic underground artist like Ras Kass, Exhibit, Dogg Pound, Def Squad, and Wu Tang Clan. Having little resources, Napoleon often referred to quoted rap verses in magazines like The Source and Rap Pages to structure the length of his lyrics. To increase his vocabulary, he read 6 dictionaries, which is what allows him to use witty wordplay in his songs. At the age of 17, he started to learn how to make beats on his own using a PSR-270 Yamaha keyboard with no samples or loop time. After hearing the his favorite rap icons speak about the evils of the music industry,he developed a vision the start his own label. Once he graduated high school, He attended the Recording Institute of Detroit to learn recording and audio engineering. Years later he enrolled into Henry Ford College to hone his art skills in designing his own merchandise. His major in Graphic Design helped him learn about branding, fashion design, videography, visual marketing, business law, which all contributed to his vision. He created the name and logo his company Punchline Records when he worked on a class project in logo design. He soon launched the record label after graduating with his Associates Degree in Graphic Design.
